Privacy Policy for Cipherwise
Last updated: October 31, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how the Android app Cipherwise: Cryptogram Puzzles (the "App"), published by Sefanatech4u Studio ("we", "us"), handles information. Cipherwise is a word puzzle game: you decode famous public-domain quotes in which every letter is hidden behind a number.
If you have any questions, contact us at jenoskon@outlook.com.
1. The game works on your phone
- All quotes are stored inside the App, and every puzzle is created on your device. You can play without an internet connection.
- You do not need an account, and the App never asks for your name, email address or phone number.
- There are no leaderboards, chats or other players: nothing you do in a puzzle is sent to us.
- Share my record only opens your phone's share menu with a ready text. You decide whether and where to send it; it does not go through us.
2. Information the App stores on your device
The App keeps a few things only on your phone, in its private storage:
- Your settings (theme, language, vibration, jump to the next cell, big letters, chosen difficulty).
- Your game progress: your level in each language and difficulty, the quote you left half-done, the quotes and daily quotes you solved, your record (solved quotes per difficulty, perfect solves, rank), your streaks and the number of free hints left today.
- Whether you already answered the "rate us" card, so we don't ask too often.
This information is not sent to us. You can erase your progress at any time in Settings > Reset progress. Everything is deleted when you uninstall the App or clear its data in Android settings.
3. Permissions
- Internet: to show ads, to download the App's ad settings file (see section 5), and to send app statistics and crash reports. The quotes and puzzles themselves work offline.
- Vibration: for a short buzz when you type a wrong letter (you can turn it off in Settings).
- The App uses your device's advertising ID for ads (see section 4). You can reset or delete it at any time in your Android settings.
- The App does not ask for access to your microphone, camera, photos, files, location or contacts.
4. Advertising
Cipherwise is free and shows ads. Ads are provided by AppLovin (AppLovin MAX) and, in some versions, Google AdMob. These partners and the ad networks they work with may collect and use:
- your device's advertising ID and other device identifiers,
- your approximate location, derived from your IP address,
- information about your device (model, operating system, language) and about how you interact with ads,
- diagnostic information about ad performance.
They use this information to show ads, measure them, limit how often you see them and prevent fraud. Depending on your choices, ads may be personalised.
Some ads are optional: when your free hints for the day are used up, you can choose to watch a short video to get more. Nothing in the game is locked behind an ad: if no video is available, you get the hints anyway.
Your choices:
- In the UK, the European Economic Area, Switzerland and other places where the law requires it, the App asks for your consent before ads are started. You can change your choice at any time in Settings > Ad privacy choices.
- In some US states, using your data for personalised ads may be considered "sharing" or "targeted advertising". You can opt out in Settings > Ad privacy choices (when shown) and by deleting or resetting your advertising ID in Android settings.
- You can also turn off ad personalisation in your Android settings (Google > Ads).

5. Ad settings file
When it starts, the App downloads a small settings file that tells it whether and how often to show ads. It is downloaded from our web host and, if that is not available, from a backup copy on GitHub (served by jsDelivr). The App sends no personal information in this request. Like any web request, these servers may see your IP address in their technical logs.
6. App statistics and crash reports
We use Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to understand how the App is used and to fix crashes. These services may collect:
- an app instance identifier,
- device model, operating system version, App version and language,
- basic usage events (for example "an ad was shown"),
- crash details.

7. What we do not do
- We do not ask you to create an account.
- We do not collect your name, email address or phone number through the App. If you email us (for example with Settings > Contact us), we receive only what you choose to send, and we use it only to answer you.
- We do not sell your personal information.
8. Data retention and deletion
- Information stored on your phone (section 2) stays there until you reset it in the App, clear the App's data or uninstall the App.
- Information collected by our partners (sections 4 and 6) is kept according to their own policies. Because we do not identify you, we cannot link this information to you. To delete or limit it, reset your advertising ID in Android settings, change your choices in Settings > Ad privacy choices, or contact the partner directly using the links above.
- If you emailed us, you can ask us to delete your messages at any time.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EEA and UK, or under privacy laws in US states such as California), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or object to the use of your personal information, and to withdraw consent at any time. The legal basis for ads and analytics in the EEA and UK is your consent, which you can withdraw in Settings > Ad privacy choices. To make a request, contact us at jenoskon@outlook.com. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
10. Security
Your game data stays on your device, and information sent by our partners' services is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we keep the information we handle to a minimum.
11. International transfers
Our advertising and analytics partners may process information in countries other than yours, including the United States. They are responsible for protecting it according to their own policies and the applicable law.
12. Children
Cipherwise is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has used the App and that information was collected, contact us and we will help remove it.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the App changes. The "Last updated" date at the top shows the latest version. Important changes will also be noted in the App's release notes on Google Play.
